Refund Policy

Please email Finance  for refund requests. Please provide full details of your request.  
The Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer will present refund requests to the appropriate PMI VP.  Decisions made by that VP will be within stated guidelines and are final and absolute, except for the “exclusions” stated below.
Refunds will only be considered if requested by email and only if they fall within the constraints listed below.  All refunds will be issued via check or PayPal within 30 days of a final decision.  

Chapter Dinner Meetings 
If the meeting is cancelled by Upstate  New York PMI for any reason you will receive a refund or credit towards a future dinner meeting, your choice.
Chapter Dinner Topics and Speakers are subject to change without notice and will not serve as cause for a refund request.  
A discounted member price will often be available to those who are active local chapter members at the time of payment.   Attendees who join the local chapter after payment will not be eligible to subsequently receive a member discount.
Refund request options:

  • 3 days or more before the meeting: a full credit towards a future dinner meeting or special event. 
  • 3 days or more before the meeting: a refund of your registration fee.
  • 2 days or less prior to meeting: PMI may have already made a financial commitment, and so it is on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the sponsoring PMI VP.

PMP Prep Classes 
Any class may be cancelled by Upstate New York PMI prior to the start for any reason including failure to reach the minimum number of students required. You will receive a full refund if the course is cancelled.  
A discounted member price will often be available to those who are active local chapter members at the time of payment.   Attendees who join the local chapter after payment will not be eligible to subsequently receive a member discount.
Refund request options:

  • 7 days or more prior to the first class: full credit towards a future class. 
  • 7 days or more prior to the first class: a refund of your registration fee.
  • Less than 7 days prior to class: impacts the ability to fill a class, and therefore is on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the sponsoring PMI VP.  If a refund is granted it will be a refund of your registration fee net any external fees.
  • After classes have started:  will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.  If a refund is granted it will be a refund of the remaining classes net all class material fees.

Professional Development Days and Other Major Sponsored Events 
Any sponsored event may be cancelled by Upstate PMI prior to the start for any reason including failure to reach the minimum number of attendees required.  You will receive a full refund if the event is cancelled.  
Speakers and instructors are subject to change without notice and will not serve as reasonable cause for a refund request with one exception as indicated below.
A discounted member price will often be available to those who are active local chapter members at the time of payment.   Attendees who join the local chapter after payment will not be eligible to subsequently receive a member discount.
Refund request options:

  • 7 days or more prior to the event: full credit towards a future event.
  • Keynote speaker withdrawal: full credit towards a future event or a refund.
  • 7 days or more prior to the event: a refund of your registration fee net of any external fees.
  • Less than 7 days prior to class: impacts the ability to fill an event, and therefore is on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the sponsoring PMI VP.  If a refund is granted it will be a refund of your registration fee net of any external fee.

Policy Exclusions
Certain events and classes may provide special, specific refund policies which would be clearly posted during event sign-up and registration, and would then supersede the above.
The elected officers of the local chapter reserve the right to collectively override this policy as they see fit, when common sense prevails or extraordinary circumstances exist with regard to a local chapter member.  Such divergence from this policy would require a quorum and majority.
