PMI-UNY presents:
Leading with Purpose: Mission-Driven Leadership for Project Managerswith Bo Goliber
6:30PM - 7:30PM (Featured Presentation)
1.0 PDU!
Project Management is often defined by timelines, budgets, and deliverables—but true success lies in the ability to inspire teams and drive meaningful impact. To move from being a "task-master" to a visionary leader, Project Managers must look beyond the daily grind and connect their work to the bigger picture.
Bo Goliber, the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer at The Charlton School, will draw on her extensive background in strategic growth and corporate engagement to demonstrate how the principles of mission-driven leadership apply directly to project management. By shifting from a "transactional" to an "intentional" mindset, Bo will show you how to harness the power of storytelling, build authentic stakeholder relationships, and align execution with organizational strategy.
In this session, we will cover:
-
Intentional vs. Transactional Leadership: How to move beyond "checking the box" to build authentic connections that motivate project teams and increase retention.
-
The "Why" Behind the "What": Techniques to align project deliverables with organizational strategy to demonstrate value and secure executive buy-in.
-
Influence Without Authority: Utilizing the "Art of the Ask"—borrowed from the world of high-stakes fundraising—to negotiate resources and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
-
Storytelling for Strategy: Leveraging communication techniques to control the narrative of your project, champion your team’s success, and navigate change management.
-
Cultivating Culture: How to create a shared sense of purpose and psychological safety within temporary project teams.
Join us to learn how to master the "human side" of project management, turning stakeholders into partners and project teams into motivated communities.

Bo Goliber is currently the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer of The Charlton School in Burnt Hills, New York, a unique therapeutic learning community providing individualized academic and
campus-life programming for young women in grades 8-12 who are facing a mental health diagnosis. Bo’s role as CSIO merges her skillset as a communications, marketing and development professional, while blending her knowledge of non-profit management and corporate philanthropy into a mission-based position that is driving strategic growth through corporate and community engagement. In her first year, Bo has increased the fundraising revenue by 169-percent and nearly tripled engagement through enhanced branding and storytelling, while also strengthening internal culture through intentional and thoughtful communication strategies.
Prior to joining The Charlton School, Bo served as Chief Development and Communications Officer at AIM Services, a New York-based non-profit organization supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. In her four years at AIM, Bo raised the organization’s profile, strengthened their brand, and doubled their fundraising, while creating opportunities for strong corporate partnerships and purposeful connections with the organization’s mission.
Before AIM, Bo was Head of Philanthropy for eight years at The Fingerpaint Group (formerly Fingerpaint Marketing), a global healthcare marketing agency, where she built and facilitated the foundational pillars for the company’s nationwide corporate philanthropy, deepening her sense of corporate engagement and strengthening her understanding of strategy, branding and marketing. Bo also started Fingerpaint’s robust programs for college interns at their various office branches across the country, and launched company-wide corporate volunteer and
engagement programs.
Throughout her career, Bo has become known as a catalyst for positive change and a driver of strategic growth. She is often tapped into for her knowledge and understanding on both sides of “giving” and “asking,” and her strength at building authentic connection through meaningful and mutually-beneficial partnerships has become a model for success, for which she often advises others in the corporate and non-profit sectors.
Bo’s mission-driven mindset and commitment to “intentional” versus “transactional” has led to a professional career that has continued to positively build upon itself, offering her the opportunity to learn and grow while sharing her lived-and-learned experiences along the way.
Recently chosen by Saratoga Living Magazine as an honoree for Capital Region Gives Back, here's a bit more about Bo's current organization:
