Ethics, Business Ethics and PMI’s Code of Ethics: Understanding the Differences
Richard Green, PMP is an experienced technology consulting leader, project management professional and consultant with a broad-based background that includes information systems management, software product development, training and consulting, business development and sales. Richard has over 30 years’ experience in a variety of industry sectors including information technology consulting, healthcare and software development in for profit, non-profit and government settings. For the past 17 years, he has provided independent “trusted advisor” consulting services to New York State and city government agencies. He is experienced in leading project teams, direct supervision of technical staff and facilitating change. His academic qualifications include an M.S. degree in Computing and a B.A. degree in Business. He is an experienced presenter at conferences in the US and Europe and a published author in academic and professional journals. Richard currently serves as New York State Technology Enterprise (NYSTEC)’s Director of Service Delivery.
PMI has a very specific Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that applies to all of us who are PMI members and practicing project managers but how do these ethical standards fit into the broader landscape of business ethics and ethics in general? This presentation will examine the relationships between all three and will also present frameworks for making ethical decisions.
